The man is young for his white hair. He is seated out front of the giant Dragon Skull that leads to the front hall of the Magical student building. Waiting for new students was always of interest to him fresh minds to help understand that the world was much bigger than they could know.
He waited for the students to arrive who might not have a limo.

The first thing one could hear when Paige walked up to Elroy was the pair of love-birds chittering nervously followed by Paige's calm tone trying to soothe them. "It's okay, lovelies. I think we're almost there." Her accent could be mistaken as Australian and would convey sweetness, pleasantness and politeness - not at all at odds with her platinum hair that curled gently down her back, or the pristine cut of her black trousers or cream coloured silk blouse, nor the black riding boots that, surprisingly, had no evidence of dirt on them. Blue eyes would cut to Elroy, a brief moment of nervousness as she presses her lips together and her throat bobs as she swallows before her private school facade of pleasantness went firmly into place. "Hello." She said pleasantly as she comes to a stop a polite distance away from him, the corners of her mouth lilting up in a smile of welcome. "I'm Paige Green."

"Hello." He will stand up to his full height. "I am Professor Elroy Carbrey of House Tytalus. I teach General Magics here. I take it you are coming in from abroad?" He will offer his hand to her.

"Good afternoon, Professor Carbrey." She would carefully shift the weight of the gilded bird cage to her other hand before taking Elroy's hand in a firm but brief shake. "I am, yes. New Zealand, to be precise." The lovebirds chitter incessantly. "Forgive my ignorance, but General Magic? What does that entail?"

"I teach things like the Realms, about the Root of Magic. Other such things the Basics." He says and will make a motion. "Would you like to take things to your room?" He will ask politely.

"Well, the basics are as good a place to start as any." She'd shift from one foot to the other, trying to shake off the exhaustion of travelling for so long - this discomfort never showed on her face, though. "Yes, please. That would be appreciated." Almost said in a rush of relief.

"Strong foundations make for strong buildings." He says with a smile. "I should wait for other students, just encase they arrive while we're talking but I can give you directions. Your name should be on the door to your room. Would you like to head up or would you like to wait with me?"

The birds chirped indignantly as though to answer his question. "I think I shall settle the birds in but I will return shortly to help greet the others." She carefully brought to the cage up as to not disturb them. "My parent's were to send my belongings ahead of me; I suppose I'll know if they arrived upon entering my room?"

"I am sure your things made it to your room." Elroy will say thoughtfully. "We had a bunch of stuff arrive and they've been setting up the new floor."

"Very good." She said with obvious relief. "It's hard enough to move across the world, it would be worse if we didn't have those creature comforts to fall on during such a time." She cradled the bird cage in her arms and would give a small nod before disappearing. It would probably take her, realistically, 30mins to find her room and set up her birds with fresh food and water before she would return to wait with Elroy. "How long have you been teaching, Professor?"

"Welcome back Miss Green," He says in greetings. "I have been teaching for three years. I was a Quasitor before that. I use to work binding Demons that escaped their realm. I had a bit of an incident and this is a little retirement for me."

She would give him a cursory once over to looks for any visible signs of this incident. "You seem to be in good form." Pulling the cardigan she grabbed from one of her boxes tighter around her shoulders. "I hope you're not resentful of your early retirement." She figured he'd tell her his incident if he felt the need but wouldn't pry.

"No, I like to think that barriers put in one's way can be steps that allow us to reach higher." He will say with a smile. "There is a lot of power that comes from our Will. It's important for a magi to have the will to control their abilities. We owe it to the world."
"Sorry I seem to have entered teaching mode."

She'd laugh softly at his wry comment. "And you'll never find a more eager student than that of one who has the unknown within her." Raising a shoulder. "I agree on the stepping stones of life. I think that's why I'm not too terribly upset about my leaving home to come here." A brief dark cloud crossed her face before it resume it's polite charm. "What was your reaction when you learned you were... Other?"

"I was relieved I think mostly. Someone at school was trying to beat me up and I stopped them in their tracks. I came here shortly after that and it was a good experience for me." He smiles, "How are you taking becoming a Magi?"

She pursed her mouth as she considered his question seriously. "Astral Projecting was such a normal thing for me that I never questioned I may be different until, well, until the wind played affect. Not sure why still." Here she raises a shoulder in semi-defeat, worrying her lip as she remembered all her classmates with their minor injuries. Poor Lily and her ribs. "I always just thought I was dreaming."

Enter Evan Owen - a perfectly average looking specimen of the local students, brown hair, average height, average build, average looking cellphone in his hands as he frowns at it and texts, paying little attention to what's going on around him. He hasn't walked into anything, but he barely glances one way across the street as he starts over, trusting in hearing no cars to his other side.
Too bad the bicycle coming up is quieter and on the "wrong side" of the road than a car, and it can be seen he's moving right into the cyclist's path, too fast and close for the cyclist to stop him, though observers have plenty of time to realize what is going on before there's a collision.

"Sometimes things that are normal to one person are strange to another. We'll help you to..." He sees the young man about to walk into the path of danger he will rise and his eyes will open wide. His eyes will turn orange from the centre out and then suddenly they won't be. Elroy will freeze like a statue he seems to be barely breathing.
Paige will see Evan's eyes turn orange as Elroy's eyes turn to their normal colour, a dark brown almost black.

"Hey, watch out!" The normally even-toned NZ girl would shout, having noticed what the professor had noticed. She'd freeze once she saw Elroy's eyes change, glancing curiously from the frozen statue to the other man who now had orange eyes. "What in the heavens..."

Evan is still oblivious as he steps off the curb - the cyclist trying to turn his wheels in time, but it's almost as if the bike - and the cyclist - hit a wall before hitting Evan, sliding off it, and the cyclist ending up on the pavement. That finally gets Evan's attention and he pockets his cellphone with a guilty look.
"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't look where I was going, are you okay?" he asks the cyclist, stopping to crouch down and try to help the other boy up if he's not badly injured - which he doesn't seem to be, most of the inertia having dissipated before hitting the ground. The cyclist's confusion, however, is pretty clear on his face.

"Uhm. Professor Carbrey, are you okay?" She asks with obvious uncertainly, her shoulders loosening slightly at the big collision being halted. She'd raise her hand but would hover a couple inches from actually touching the professor's arm.

Elroy will suddenly move against and blink his eyes, the confusion is just a flicker. "You!" call over to Evan, he turns to Paige, "Everything will be alright." and marches over making sure the young man is on the side of the road safe before talking to him. "Are you in Magical Classes?"

Paige would wait where she was, wanting to give the new comer privacy. No one should eavesdrop when their asses are about to be handed to them.

Evan's stomach sinks and he looks at Elroy approaching with the expression of someone watching the headsman arriving for their execution. Even the cyclist seems a bit intimidated, mostly in that it's a teacher, and of the magical classes no less. He steps back once the cyclist is on his feet again and looks down at the ground, hang-dog expression on his face.
"Sorry sir, I know I should've been paying more attention," he says - his eyes having gone back to their stolid, average brown.
The cyclist is fine, aside from a slightly sore knee - it's a little scraped and tender, but isn't actively bleeding under the now-dusty uniform pants. He looks torn between confusion, growing annoyance, and now a little bit of satisfaction - at least the clueless idiot (Evan) is getting in trouble for not paying attention.

"Listen, are you aware you are at the Magic Studies Building?" Professor Carbrey asks, "I am professor Elroy Carbrey. You belong in magical classes." He will announce to the young man.

Paige is actually able to tell the three spells have gone off recently, a hold spell, someone to stop someone else, a reflect spell, and a physical protection spell.

The cyclist blinks at that, kind of dumbstruck - but he nods. Yeah, makes everything make sense, to him at least.
Evan is dumbfounded and gapes at the teacher, mouth opening and closing like a gasping fish. Eventually he finds words.
"What? I don't have powers, I didn't even do anything!" he says, looking utterly bewildered, clearly unaware of his own effect on his surroundings. After all, how notable is not getting hurt?

"You most certainly did. You reflect my paralyzation power back on me!" He will say and then straighten up. "Are you in the regular classes?" He will ask a bit on the stern side. though he's a little surprised to find out how his gaze feels.
