Ambrose came into his room and looked around. He appeared to be the first one here. He placed his bags down onto one of the beds and sighed with a bit of relief. Carrying all that stuff was a pain. He was also nervous about meeting his room mate, he kind of wished he had gotten a room to himself having never had any siblings to share a room with before. He started unpacking his stuff, putting away his clothes in the wardrobe.

Eyes darting back and forth between the directions in his free hand and the number plates, Rem made his way through the dorm looking for his room. When he finally caught sight of a number that matched what he was looking for, he was surprised to find that the door was already open.
"Hello?" Rem asked, poking his head inside.

Ambrose gave Rem a smile and wave, "Hey, nice to meet you. I'm Ambrose, your room mate," he said and went over to shake his hand.

“You too,” Rem said, shifting the terrarium to his left hand so he could shake with his right. “I’m Remington. Rem for short.”

"Good to meet you, Rem. Let me give you a tour of the room. There is that bed, there's another bed, there's a desk and chair and there's another desk and chair. Then there are two wardrobes and two windows. Two of everything, almost like an ark," Ambrose grinned.

"I suppose that's a better policy than having the students fight for them," Rem said. "Are you happy with this setup or is there anything you want to move around?"

"I think this set-up works for me. Plus moving all the furniture around would be such a pain, I can't quite work up the energy to do it," Ambrose said and smiled, "So where do you come from, Rem?"

"I am from the Starvalley Mythical Creature Sanctuary," Rem said, going over to put the terrarium on the empty desk and his bag next to the empty bed. "Which I can't give an exact location for because it would upset the unicorns. But it was a sheltered upbringing and I'm probably more culturally unicorn than any region in England. And you? What's your story?"

"Oh unicorns, I have never run into any of those before," Ambrose said thinking how cool it would be to turn into a unicorn, "Oh, I'm from Oxford. Lived there my whole life with my Mum and Dad until I came here that is! I get magic from my Mum's side of the family. I can do transformations and aerokinesis. What about you? What magical stuff have you got?"

"Nothing too flashy," Rem said. "I can talk to animals, which I suppose is useful for the family business. I can also hide well when it's dark and make water glow, so I'm a bit all over the map. Or seasons, as it were." He frowned as something occurred to him. "Where's Oxford?"

"Oxford is like a hundred miles east of here, in Oxfordshire," said Ambrose, "You can talk to animals? That's really cool. I can turn into animals, three specifically, a dolphin, a gull and a cat. So if you see cat hair or bird feathers around that's probably because of me. Your family business must be a lot of fun with all those mythical animals around,"

"It's what I grew up with," Rem said with a shurg. "I know intellectually that it's remarkable, but it's hard to think of it that way when you're cleaning the environments.
"But those sound like excellent options. Optimized for land, sea, and air. Do you have a favorite?"

"Are any of the animals actually good to talk with?" Ambrose asked, "As for my favourite, I suppose it is being a cat. It just feels comfortable. Being a gull is fun for flying which really is a lot of fun and dolphins are great for hot days at the seaside,"

“I suppose that depends on how you’d qualify a good conversation,” Rem said. “Some are easily distracted by anything that catches their attention while others are laser focused on one thing and it’s impossible to get them to focus on anything else. I suppose cats might be the best, although they’ll keep you on your toes. I’ve never talked to a big aquatic mammal, though. I suspect they might be the best. Are you still you when you transform or do you find the animal’s instincts shifting to the forefront of your mind?”
