Rem grew up on the Starvalley Mythical Creature Sanctuary. His mother's family has been overseeing the sanctuary for centuries and he is expected to continue the family business upon graduating from Taliesin. He grew up relatively isolated at the Sanctuary without much in the way of peers. He knows six ways to help a unicorn with indigestion, but talking to people his own age is something he has very little experience in.
He put off attending Taliesin for as long as possible, as there was always a need for him at the Sanctuary, until his mother put her foot down,. She finally insisted that he go and that it would be a good experience to get out of their bubble. Rem isn't so sure, but he's willing to try. Especially if learning about his abilities will lead to something that can help the Sanctuary in the long-term.
